Holy Innocents Ornament
Since I began printmaking, I wanted to memorialize the children lost to King Herod’s regime in his attempt to find and kill baby Jesus. I could not find other artists making ornaments for this tragic event, and worried selfishly that nobody would purchase such an ornament during a time of festivity. However, this year being my fourth year I’ve felt the tug to create this ornament, I relented.
I was interested to learn that in the Orthodox community, iconography depicting the holy innocents has overlap with the remembrance of all departed infants, whether due to abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
My prayer is that this ornament can be a comforting reminder that Christ loves the innocents we lost. I hope it is a reminder of the glorious second resurrection which is to come!
For those interested, I have a full sized linocut print entitled “The Holy Innocents” also available.

This ornament is hand-printed on pine and detailed with gold. For those interested, I’ve included the option to have gold added to all of the halos for small extra fee, as this is a tedious process.
Ornaments are roughly 4” in diameter, and will come with a simple brown string tied through the hole.
Due to the nature of linocut printing on wood, each ornament will have variations, such as in the shape or grain of the wood and small elements of the print. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
